Row 2 (Mesh Base): Ch 3 (counts as dc), sk 1 st, *V-st in next st, sk 2 sts; repeat from * until 1 st remains, dc in last st. (17 V-st bases). Turn.

Row 6 & 7: Repeat Rows 4 and 5 one more time. You should now have 17 shells and the yoke should measure approx. 3.5" deep.
The Divide (Sleeve Separation)
Row 8 (The Split): We will now create the armholes.
Work the mesh pattern (ch 3, dc) across the first 3 shells (Front Left).
Chain 6, skip the next 3 shells (Sleeve).
Work the mesh pattern across the next 5 shells (Back).
Chain 6, skip the next 3 shells (Sleeve).
Work the mesh pattern across the remaining 3 shells (Front Right).
The Body
Row 9: Work 7-dc shells into each mesh base across the front, back, and one shell into the center of each underarm chain.
Row 10-11: Repeat the mesh and shell rows once more.
Row 12 (Final Ruffle Edge): For the last row, work 9-dc shells into each base to create a dramatic, flared scallop. Fasten off.
The Edging & Finishing
Border: Join yarn at the bottom front corner. Work sc evenly up the front panel, 3 sc in the corner, sc across the neckline, 3 sc in the corner, and down the second front panel.
Sleeves: Join yarn at the underarm. Work one round of 7-dc shells around the armhole opening for a "flutter" sleeve effect.
Tie: Weave a satin ribbon through the V-stitches of Row 2. Add a crochet flower to the chest for the final touch.
