Alpine Stitch (for body):

  • Row 1: fpdc, dc in next stitch. Repeat.
  • Row 2: dc on top of fpdc, fpdc around dc from previous row. Repeat.

Abbreviations:

  • hdc = Half Double Crochet
  • dc = Double Crochet
  • fpdc = Front Post Double Crochet
  • bpdc = Back Post Double Crochet

Materials:

  • 4mm crochet hook
  • DK weight yarn (Green, Light Brown, Light Grey, Black) – 100g each
  • 4 stitch markers
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

This pattern uses DK weight yarn, but you can substitute with other yarn weights — just adjust your hook size and foundation chain.


Free Crochet Pullover Jumper Pattern (4–5 years size)

Yoke (Green Yarn)

  • Foundation: Ch 100, slip stitch to join in the round.

Round 1:

Ch 2, 12 hdc, 3hdc in next st, 24 hdc, 3hdc in next st, 24 hdc, 3hdc in next st, 24 hdc, 3hdc in next st, 12 hdc.
Place stitch markers in the 2nd stitch of each increase group. (108 sts)

Round 2:


Sl st to join, ch 2, 13 hdc, 3hdc in next st, 26 hdc, 3hdc in next st, 26 hdc, 3hdc in next st, 26 hdc, 3hdc in next st, 13 hdc. (116 sts)

Rounds 3–14:


Repeat Round 2. Finish off the yoke. (212 sts)

Body of the Jumper:

Round 15 (Join Brown Yarn):

Ch 2, hdc until first marker, hdc in marked st, ch 5, skip 52 sts (sleeve opening), hdc in next marked st. Continue, repeat for second sleeve. (108 sts)

Round 16:

Sl st to join, ch 2, hdc around, working 5 hdc in each chain space. (118 sts)

Round 17:


Ch 3, fpdc in next st, dc in next st repeat.

Round 18:


Ch 3, dc on fpdc, fpdc around dc repeat.

Rounds 19–43:


Repeat Rounds 17–18, alternating yarn colors (brown, grey, black) for a beautiful striped crochet sweater effect.

Ribbing (Hemline):

Row 1: 

Ch 3, fpdc in fpdc, bpdc in next st repeat.

Row 2–4: 

Repeat ribbing pattern.


Sleeves:

Join yarn at underarm.

  • Round 1: Ch 2, decrease 2 sts underarm, hdc around, decrease 2 sts before joining.
  • Round 2: Decrease at beginning and end, repeat body stitch pattern.
  • Rounds 3–26: Repeat without decreases.

Finish with 6 rows of ribbing.


Neckline:

Round 1: Join green yarn, hdc around.
Round 2: Join brown yarn, begin ribbing.
Repeat ribbing in grey and black (6 rows total).

Finished Measurements:

  • Chest: 26 inches
