Pattern Instructions (0-3 Months)

Video Tutorail:

1. The Body

We begin by creating a large rectangle that forms the back and sleeves.

  • Foundation: Chain 86 (approx. 21 inches wide).
  • Row 1: Dc in 4th chain from hook and in each chain across. Turn.
  • Rows 2-18: Ch 2 (does not count as st), dc in each stitch across. Turn.

Note: Your finished rectangle should be approximately 21" wide and 7" tall.

2. Assembly & Seaming

This is where the magic happens! Follow these steps to transform your rectangle into a shrug:

  1. Lay rectangle flat with Wrong Side facing up.
  2. Fold lengthwise (bring top long edge down to bottom long edge).
  3. Measure 6 inches from the left edge toward the center; place marker. Repeat for the right side.
  4. Sew from the outer edge to the marker using a mattress stitch or whip stitch to create the "Sleeve Seam."
  5. Flip right side out to reveal the Fold-over Collar.

Multi-Size Conversion Chart

Size Width (Ch) Height (Rows) Sleeve Seam
0-3M 21" (86) 7" (18) 6"
3-6M 24" (98) 8" (20) 7"
6-12M 27" (110) 9" (22) 8"
12-18M 30" (122) 10" (24) 9"
2T 33" (134) 11" (26) 10"

Expert Tip: To truly make this an "heirloom" set, join your Cream yarn at the center opening and work one round of single crochet around the entire edge. It adds stability and ties the colors together beautifully!
