Materials Needed
- Double Knit weight yarn(marble by james mk barret) (approx. 200g for 22-inch chest)
- Crochet hook suitable for yarn (4.0 mm / G)
- Buttons (4)
- Stitch markers
- Yarn needle
Special Stitch: Paired Half Double Crochet (PHDc)
How to work PHDc:
- Insert hook into the same stitch as last hdc, yarn over, pull up a loop.
- Insert hook into next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook).
- Yarn over, pull through all 5 loops.

Step 1: Yoke (Square Neckline)
Foundation Chain: Ch 56 + 2 (for turning chain)
Row 1 – Establish Yoke and Corners:
- Work 8 PHDc.
- Corner: Ch 2
- Work 13 PHDc
- Corner: Ch 2
- Work 13 PHDc
- Corner: Ch 2
- Work 13 PHDc
- Corner: Ch 2
- Work 8 PHDc to end
Row 1 Stitch Count: 55 sts (excluding corner ch-2 spaces). Ch 2, turn
Row 2 – Yoke Shaping
Work PHDc across first section. Finish last PHDc in corner ch-1, start next PHDc in ch-2 space. Corner: Ch 2. Repeat across sleeves, back, and front. Ch 2, turn.
Rows 3–10 – Continue Yoke
Repeat Row 2. In corner ch-2 spaces, work (hdc, ch 2, hdc). Stitch count increases +8 sts per row. Continue until yoke measures 4.5–5 inches (~10 rows).
Step 2: Separate for Body
- Work across first front
- Skip sleeve section (place on stitch holder or chain ~3)
- Work across back
- Skip other sleeve
- Work across second front
Body Rows: PHDc across body only, 15 rows
Step 3: Sleeves
- Rejoin yarn at underarm
- Work PHDc in round around armhole for 2 rows
- Row 4: decrease first & last stitch of the round
- Rows 5–6: PHDc in each stitch
- Row 7: decrease first & last stitch again
- Rows 8–16: PHDc in each stitch
Edging
- Work 1 sc in each stitch from left front bottom, up neck, across right front, then bottom
- Buttonhole: Ch 2, skip 1 stitch
- Work a second round of sc for neat finish
- Ch 15
- Ch 1, 1 sc in each stitch
- Work 15 rows
- Stitch on right front, leaving 2 PHDc rows at top
