Looking for a cozy, textured hat that works for the whole family? The waffle stitch is a classic for a reason—it’s squishy, warm, and looks incredibly professional. Today, I’m sharing my go-to pattern that can be scaled from a tiny newborn size all the way up to an adult large.
Materials You’ll Need
- Yarn: Double Knit (or any Worsted/DK weight acrylic).

- Row 3: Chain 2. *BPDC in the FPDC stitches, FPDC in the BPDC stitches.* Repeat row.
2. The Waffle Stitch Body
- Row 4: Chain 2. *FPDC in next stitch, Double Crochet (DC) in next 2 stitches.* Repeat from * to * around. Join.
- Row 5-Finish: Repeat Row 4 until the hat measures approximately 3–4 cm shorter than your desired total height.
